Subsong

Subsong is inspired by practices of future bass, glitch pop, and musique concrète. Among other samples, I used field recordings of singing, snapping, and clapping inside a perfectly smooth cement cube on Laguna Mountain, in Southern California. The term "sub song" describes a form of musical play in juvenile songbirds; young birds are known to sing fragments softly to themselves as experimentations or improvisations.
