Lucky Skies

Commissioned by Jesse Orth, Texas A&M University Kingsville. Premiered at International Women's Brass Conference in summer 2022.
In September 2020, the sky in Oakland, California turned red for a day because of wildfire smoke. Lucky Skies is a reflection on that event, weaving musical quotes from classic songs that reference skies through both frenetic and melancholic musical textures in the electronics.
